Scope

This privacy policy applies to vinyldeckingreviews.com and any content we publish on this domain. It describes what information we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and how you can request its deletion.

What we collect

Anonymous analytics. When you visit this site, we collect standard server and analytics data: IP address (truncated for privacy where possible), browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, time on page, and approximate geographic region (country and state/province level, not street-level).

Email addresses you give us. If you sign up for our newsletter or submit a contact form, we store your email address along with the form you submitted and the date.

Click tracking on referral links. When you click a "Get a quote" button on a sponsored review, we record the click (which review, when) so we can measure traffic. This is an anonymous event; we do not associate the click with your email address unless you are logged into a reader account, which we do not currently offer.

No cookies that identify you personally. We use Cloudflare Analytics, which does not use tracking cookies. We do not use Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insights, or third-party advertising cookies. We may use Google Tag Manager to measure ad conversions on pages that run paid traffic; this places a Google Ads measurement cookie only if you arrived from a Google Ad.

Why we collect it

  • To understand which reviews are useful and which are not
  • To send newsletter updates to readers who explicitly asked for them
  • To measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns (page-level, not person-level)
  • To respond to contact form submissions

Who we share it with

  • Nobody, by default. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties.
  • Cloudflare (our hosting provider) processes requests and analytics on our behalf.
  • Google receives anonymous ad conversion signals if you arrived via a Google Ad on a page instrumented for conversion tracking.

We do not share your email address with any manufacturer, installer, or third party for marketing purposes.

Retention

  • Analytics data: retained for 30 days in Cloudflare Analytics
  • Newsletter emails: retained until you unsubscribe
  • Contact form submissions: retained for 24 months, then deleted

Your rights

You can request:

  • A copy of the data we hold about you
  • Deletion of your email or contact form submission
  • Unsubscription from the newsletter at any time (via the unsubscribe link in every email)

Residents of the European Union (GDPR), California (CCPA/CPRA), Canada (PIPEDA), and other jurisdictions with data subject rights are entitled to the rights granted under their respective laws. We honour all such requests regardless of your location.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Updates

We post material changes to this policy with a new "Last updated" date at the top. If changes are significant, we'll note them in a newsletter.
